Breastfeeding also helps to prevent womens’ cancers and type 2 diabetes.
What can we do for you?

- Provide support and assist with breastfeeding challenges such as latch technique and building supply
- Give information on pumping and breast milk storage
- Support breastfeeding continuation after returning to work
What do we also provide?

- Emotional support, with the help and assistance of a certified lactation counselor (CLC) and IBCLC and fellow moms, we help and support each other on the breastfeeding journey
Tuesday Group with Cathy Traflet and Aine Ryan
Cathy Traflet has been a registered nurse for 35 years and a lactation consultant for 10 years. She started leading the Breastfeeding Support Group at Overlook Medical Center in 2014 to help moms and babies get the proper support they need during the postpartum period. The mothers and babies in her support group attribute their successful breastfeeding journey to the education that they receive and the friendships that develop during this time. Aine Ryan, BSN, RNC, IBCLC, has always been focused on caring for women and their families. She has experienced maternity care in Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Texas, and California before setting her roots here in Summit and joining the Overlook Maternity team over 27 years ago. Lactation support and education has been her passion for many years and she completed her IBCLC in 2017. Aine focuses on using a holistic approach in educating and supporting new parents. Meeting them where they are in their journey is essential. Most mothers have a desire to breastfeed their newborns and finding innovative ways to enjoy this process is the goal.
Our breastfeeding support group is for new mothers and their babies. The group is free of charge to join and participate, all we ask is for you to register.
